New York City Uniform Civil Service Disability Claims: EMTs

The aggressive team of New York City disability attorneys at the Seelig Law Offices regularly fight for emergency medical technicians (EMTs) injured on the job. When someone’s life is on the line, EMTs are always there to provide the necessary medical attention. They deserve to be compensated if they are injured in the line of duty.

The New York State Retirement Law protects city employed EMTs that become unable to work as a result of an employment related injury and provides them with a disability pension totaling three quarters of their final average salary. Not all injuries create eligibility for this disability pension and it is therefore important to discuss your case with an attorney to determine if you should bring a claim. EMTs that worked at certain locations and during a certain period of time after September 11, 2001 may also be entitled to a special pension benefit created by the World Trade Center Bill if they suffer from a qualifying condition. They may also be eligible for a benefit created by the Heart Bill, New York legislation creating a presumption that a disabling heart disorder is the result of stressful work conditions.

The Seelig Law Offices regularly assists EMTs with disability claims. If you are an EMT and were injured on the job and are unable to work as a result, contact the firm today by calling (212)766-0600 for a free consultation. Typically we do not collect a legal fee unless you are awarded a pension.
